At Last
Finally, we get our first win of the season and just in case you haven't heard Chalky scored, all the waitresses at Harry's Robertson Quay will confirm this and give you a precise description, of the goal that is.
However, this was a hard earned victory against a much improved French team, and the remarkable moment didn't take place before we had gone a goal down to a free kick which Wes saved well, unfortunately his defenders forget to give the ball the final clearance and up pops a french striker to knock it in. After that we dominated the game for about the next hour, first the remarkable moment......44 years old(I swear he's older) 50 kg and the best pound for pound right back in the league collects the ball on the edge of the box, setting himself up for a cross with his only foot he drags the ball onto his left and launches it into the top corner, what followed was the most unusual goal celebration, he didn't know what to do and the rest of us still had our mouths open completely gobsmacked by this incredible feat. I would like to nominate this now as the goal of the season. Three more ISA Lions goals were to follow as we played some great football and utilised the pace of our frontmen, two goals from Jafri, they were to be expected and a pile driver from the skipper Kelso who descibed it as a scuff saw us comfortably in front, in fact we could and should of scored more. Unfortunately, we allowed OG back into the game and with their tails up they got the game back to 4-3, very nearly getting an equaliser on two ocassions, why did this happen my fault!! We had a very strong bench and everyone deserves and wants to play, unfortunately the rhythm and balance of the side changes with multiple subs and we very much lost our momentum in the final 20 minutes. Our thanks to OG for a great game and to the officials for doing a good job, except the penalty.
