OGS-Vikings
After a very disappointing result last Saturday and lots of talking during the week, Gaulois objectives for this encounter against the Danish were to show commitment and solidarity whatever the score, and to have no regret at the end. Mission almost accomplished except for the first ten minutes in the second half ....
Vikings would get the opener very quickly after a shot from the D box.
But OGS managed to get back into the game thanks to Alex who received a pass from fred in the penalty area. Now, we all know that alex loves to shoot, so instead of simply scoring, he decided to torture his opponent by doing as if he was not about to score. He first shot on the goalkeeper, who puts it back in his feet, then a second time, again deviated by the GK , and a third time to finish the job. 1-1
Even score and even game, as both teams were well in position, and produced good quality passing.
The sons of Odin would take again the lead after a miscommunication in our defense.
But Alex is a proud man. And he loves to shoot. And his wife told him to score twice today otherwise no boogey woogie this week-end. Alex loves boogey woogie. So when Daniel, Jean-MArc and Nico R managed somehow to give him the ball on the right side of the penalty area, he blasted a craker that got on the opposite side past the GK. 2-2
OGS, back in the game, celebrating their hero (some started to think about building a statue of Alex on the Canebiere in MArseille)
Daniel doesn't like throw-ins. If he was the inventor of football, there wouldn't be throw ins. But he's not. Unfortunately, he made a few false throws. He was pissed off so yours truly decided to do them on his side. A long throw in arrived on Zorro, hum ... no .. .on Alex.. who deflected it with the back of his head to Austin, who headed the ball in. OGS took the lead 3-2 just before the half time.
Now, we knew it would be difficult to hold on the score given the quality of the opposition, even deprived of their playmaker Tommie Soerensen. Their numbers 15 and 9 were very good today.
But we did not except to take 3 goals in ten minutes just after the start of the second half. The first one... well... seemed like a joke, a bad joke. Further details probably in the vikings reports. Problem is, its the kind of goal our team need 10 minutes to recover from. Meanwhile Vikings would take advantage of our lack of concentration and small mistakes were paid cash.
5-3 after ten minutes, then 6-3 10 minutes later... looked like the titanic for OGS, even though were really were trying our best even creating some opportunities with Fred and Julien now upfront. On a corner, Julien would be pushed in the penalty area and without hesitation referee would give us a penalty kick. Julien put it in and for a while OGS thought that a comeback might still be possible.
However the whole team was getting tired, and the last one was for Vikings.
Thanks to Vikings for a fair game, and good luck for the rest of the season.
Thanks to the referees excellent today.
