OGS raises up its level but...

Despite the morning heavy rain, the pitch for the OGS-Hotspurs game was in perfect condition. Pre game briefing was about being up to the challenge in facing one of the best teams of Cosmoleague. Hotspurs were quickly in action and in the game, showing great composure in the midfield . They would score the opener after 5 min after a beautiful passing sequence. However OGS would not be discouraged and we managed to stick to the strategy and positioning asked from coach JB. We would get several clear occasions, especially one that seemed easier to score than to miss. Hotspurs would still be very dangerous through their attacking trio, and they would get a second one after a quick counter attack , precise passing and finishing. OGS would try again to attack and contain their opponent. At one point yours truly forgot it was football not rugby and committed a clear foul as last defender  (apologies to my teammates, that was a very stupid move, that could have been costly)

However the referee just gave a free kick, quickly played by Hotspurs without letting OGS defense to put a wall . And the charismatic number 4 from Spurs would score.
3-0 half time, really not a score reflecting the content of the first half.
Second half would seee OGS trying harder and putting more and more pressure on Hotspurs defense. Our efforts were at last rewarded by a goal from Tamby. We managed again to have 2 or 3 clear chances but Hotspurs keeper was really in a good day today and managed some great saves. Hotspurs looked a little bit tired and put some subs in but OGS would get most of the possession. However Hotspurs would give a last lesson of realism with a last attack in the final minutes , getting past both central defenders of OGS and scoring the last goal of the game.

Overall OGS was disapointed by the final result given the quality of the game we managed to produce. No doubt Hotspurs is a good team, with 4 strong players that control the game, and a team that obviously has a lot of experience. However OGS managed to stay in the game, to be present in duels, and produced its best game to date both physically and technically. We are on a good track. Special mention to the three new players Hugues, Tomas and Romain, that should be good addition to the team, and to Cyril who did a solid job as goalkeeper even though it's not hs usual position.

Congrats to Hotspurs, for a physical but fair game, and good luck for the rest of the season.
Finally, lets just say that the referee had a bad day at the office, with controversial decisions on both sides....
