Close encounter of the Gaulois kind
A game of 2 halves to be honest, first half total rubbish from Latini and second half a lot better although our finishing today was awful with the exception of our usual top scorer Magaud. Nonetheless it is surprising to see Gaulois with only 2 points and no win this year considering the way they competed on Saturday.
First half we started lethargic and slow, trying a different formation with 4-3-3 didn’t work too well combined with the fact that movement and passing was poor. Gaulois went ahead after Gob tried to clear a freekick, his deflected header bounced off the cross bar into the back of the net. On the other side Latini had a free kick and came back with a Magaud header to make it 1-1 after 15-20min into the game. Than another deflected shot from outside the box gave Gaulois the lead, once again Olive Magaud restored the balance and made it 2-2 before half time.
Second half a few changes and a kick up the arse for the Latini players. 2nd half performance was a lot better, more movement, passing, more chances but some poor finishing we created at least a handful of clear opportunities to go ahead but last minute defending or poor finishing meant it was still 2-2 with 10minutes to go. We hit the crossbar at least twice if not more and Adrien missed an open goal from 6 yards out. At least defensively we closed shop, I cannot remember a shot on goal for Cuong to save in the second half. Eventually Magaud completed his hatrick and made it 3-2 from a nice ball over the defence by Gob, Magaud controlled and chipped it over the on rushing goalie.
There were moments in the game we looked like panicking and it was not a very good Latini performance but 3 points is what matters. If you are a strong team you have the win games even when you are not playing at your best. It also serves as a real wake up call that we need to have the right mindset and attitude for each and every game if we want to finish in the top3 this year.
Man of the match only really has 1 contender – Olive Magaud, a hatrick that gave us the 3points.
Thanks to Gaulois for a very competitive game, I will not be surprised to see them winning a few games before the end of the season.
Thanks to referee’s for an overall good game.
