ANOTHER GREAT DISPLAY FROM BREWERKZ
Coming from a very good run, we made sure that we were not going to stumble against an unpredictable Rangers team and thanks to two goals per half and a lot of dominating on the pitch, we got full rewards from an impressive display from the entire team.
We had to redesign the entire squad due to many players missing, but those who played today made sure that we did not miss the absentees. We started straight from the whistle and imposed our tempo to the game. Rangers were by no means there to be spectators and gave us a real game with their usual fighting spirit combined with good skills across the pitch. However all the goal chances were created towards Alvaro's goal and without his great performance the game could have been put to bed in the first half already. Kelly missed the unmissable when from 5 yards and with Alvaro on the floor he sent his easy tap in over the bar. Then ensued a series of one on one with mainly Kelly and Icaro that were again very well paried by the spaniard before a good header from Fulvio got saved on the line by the well positioned full back.
These were the prelude to the opening goal around the 20th minutes when a series of shot inside the area by Bright and Kelly were all saved by Alvaro, but for Bright to eventually and with great pugnacity to slot the ball in the empty net. Finally we had the break through that we deserved, but as it happens sometimes this goal seemed to wake up Rangers who started to put some pressure on our midfield and defense creating some good football but no real threat to Alex. Our second goal came from a good lay on the left and Icaro's dangerous cross was well headed by a Rangers defender wrong footing their goal keeper. This second goal seemed to break down the energies of Rangers and the game went to half time with a confident Brewerkz team deservedly ahead.
The second half was much of the same with Brewerkz monopolizing the ball and creating constant danger with Kelly and Ganesh upfront. On one of those occasions, one powerful tackle from a Rangers defender at the edge of their area sent the ball hitting the back of the net for a second most classical own goal. After the due changes Brewerkz managed to keep its shape and continue putting pressure on the Rangers, who managed to create some good chances all well taken care by Nic. We scored our last goal with a great action from Ganesh and a powerful drive deflected out of reach of poor Alvaro.
Great overall performance from Brewerkz that shows some more maturity and patience compared to the previous season. But we are only at the begining of the season and we will have to face some tough test starting from next Saturday against Latini. Thanks to the refs and Rangers for a pleasant game played in great spirit.
