This is not with great pleasure I am writing the game report today. We played vs. Hotspurs, a usually very organized and motivated team, and they were on the day. After the last few weeks of great display by SCC, we were hoping for a good game.

Things started pretty well for SCC who scored the opener after a few minutes only by Donovan, with a well taken header after Azran corner kick. That was it; SCC had played in fist half. The remaining 40 minutes would be Hotspurs only, playing good football and scoring 3 goals. In the mean time SCC was not playing as a team, spending more time and energy insulting each other or complaining to the referees. That was an awful display, ridiculous comedy show at times, and a shame to be part of.

A well deserved hair dryer speech by the coach at half time (Alex Ferguson alike, even though he did not through a boot to any player's face, though he would have needed more than 2 boots), and for the first time of the afternoon some SCC players were not talking… what a relief! In the past 3 years we have reversed situations like this, having a bad day and / or 2 goals down. Coach and captains have asked everyone to re-focus, play as a team and show at least some character in second half!

It was indeed better, with SCC immediately putting Hotspurs under pressure all over the park, playing some good football, going wide, getting crosses in, strikes and we managed to come back in the game with Hutcheon finishing a great move. Going towards the end of the game, a few attacking subs to come in for SCC to push even harder to get the equilizer. We went close a few times but missed our chances and in the last minutes Hotspurs took 2 counter attacks for clinical finishes again.

MoM if there is one, goes to Donovan, not only for his goal but for the fighting spirit showed all game long. JD worked hard up front and was good to see him running after every ball, motivating partners and trying his best. Very good game mate!
