GASâ??s forwards warmed up for plate final!

Finally this match is played, having been postponed three times. The 7 pm kickoff at Deptford road in Sembawang seemed a little early for the Dutch though. While the 16 GAS players were ready and warm, the seven or so Dutch players already there were still waiting for their other teammates. It must have been something to do with the Holland-Italy game the night before.  As a result, the match was delayed for about 30mins. There were no linesmen as well but the game got underway anyway after the delay.

Back in goal was young Melvin "Cech" and other than 2007/2008 MVP Heiko, who was absent, and new signing Dennis who started on the left wing, the team was actually the same as the previous few games.  Dr Cha Cha stood in for Jeorg and managed the side for the day.

The all stars came close several times within the first 20mins when Thomas beat the offside trap, sprinted (!!) and squared but no one could convert. The Dutch were defending well until the 20h minute mark when after a corner kick the ball was suddenly in the net. I think the ball took a couple of deflections by the Dutch defenders. The all stars continued to attack despite some pressure from the Dutch, and scored two in quick succession. Madse's thunderbolt was saved but dropped to Sascha who doesn't need an invitation to score.  Volker then played a superb through ball in behind the Dutch defence and Dr Cha Cha converted for his second.

Half-time: 3-0 GAS. The Benni "brothers" and Florian came on during half-time for Steffen, Phillip v.P and Sascha.

Shortly after the restart, Thomas injured himself and Nick replaced him. Michael got himself on the score sheet when he continued towards goal despite being fouled (ref played advantage, and rightly so...) and slammed one into the net. Supersub Nick nicked one through the â??keeper's legs after being played through by Volker. Florian then made it 6-0 after Michael had done all the hard work.  Michael added another when he beat his marker and coolly whacked it into the top corner. Finally, Nick was tripped in the box and Marcus stepped up to covert from the spot. The game ended 8-0 to the GAS. One more game for us, and we have to win this no matter what!!!

Thanks and all the best to Hollandse for next season. We would also like to thank our sponsors CROWN LIFT TRUCKS AND EQUIPMENT for their much appreciated support. We very much look forward to seeing familiar faces on Saturdays next season and we wish everyone a good rest.
