At stake?
nRetention of the Cosmo League Crown with 4 fixtures remaining.
nA depleted squad and so changes of personnel. 1st Half saw the Champions line up in a familiar 3-5-2
nIn Goal - Scott Starr
nRichie Pugh , M Georojo , Kian Ann made up the back 3
nCaptain Buck Rogers, Korean Paul, Jimmy ‘Kim Leng’ Tan through Central Midfield. Yossi & Matt Sutton Right & Left respectively, with JD & JP our 2 pronged attack.
n1st half proved to be an overall solid display with 2 goals, numerous chances, and lots of possession and pressure from SCC.
nWhat the Dutch lack in technical prowess they make up for in physical presence, determination and endeavor.
nThe Dutch sat back and soaked up pressure and attempted to hit us on the break. The plan almost worked twice in the 1st half. Most notably, A disallowed goal due to Dutch striker drifting unnecessarily offside & an off the line clearance from an unnamed hobbit-like Welshman, kept the Dutch Tally at 0.
nScott Star thwarting any other chances by showing he’s a sharp as ever off his line, and showing an unparalleled willingness to get amongst The studs socks and pads of the opposing strikers.
nThe deep Dutch allowed us prolonged periods of possession and a freedom to dominate all over the park. The deadlock was broken by a JD Header, Jimmy ‘Kim Leng’ Tan adding the 2nd making a Half time score line of 2v0 to the good for the remaining champions.
nHalftime, half a job done. The interval briefing from Captain Buck Rogers was simply more of the same 2nd half.
nA second half of exactly of that was delivered .
nJP & Jimmy Tan adding a further goal a piece, earning them selves both a well deserved brace.
nA ship well Steered by Captain Buck, Korean Paul played with an energy & freedom, back 3 kept things tight and Wide men got in behind and delivered crosses . JD & JP terrorizing their defenders for the duration.
nNothing emphatic, nonetheless solid throughout. MOM goes to JD for his brace and general tenacity.
nSubs :-
nMehdi for Matt Sutton after 20 minutes.
nReed replacing the Taffytubby with 20 to go,
nJohn on for Korean Paul
nAddie for JKLT
nMOM JD , replaced by Andrew Hutcheon (aka Top Scorer , COSMO MVP, SCC Player of The Year, Sportsman of The Year, & Jock of The Century)
nPost match title celebrations, somewhat half hearted. The yardstick for the SCC class of 2010 is the double, with a cup final looming the general consensus in this camp is that there is work to do yet.
