Solid win
n

After a tough start to 2010 which saw the Hibs win just one match they returned to winning ways with a solid performance against Rangers. Due to the rain in the morning the PSA pitch was heavy in patches but played well.

n

Hibs started well, moving the ball between defense and midefield with Gary & Geoff finding space in the middle and the full backs and wide midfielders combining well. This was rewarded early into the game when Gary received the ball 12 yrds out and emphatically scuffed it into the bottom corner, send the keeper and defenders all the wrong way - you can't teach that sort of finishing.

n

Unfortunately it wasn't long before Rangers equalised. On a counter attack the winger did well and put a cross into the box only for Tunners to be out jumped by the 4' 10" striker to bullet a header home. The game ebbed and flowed a bit following this with neither team really creating much. But with 10 mins of the half to go some lovely work and hard runnign from Glenn on the right flank was rewarded when his pass across the box to Tom was passed into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

n

Halftime came and the Hibs were feeling confident - some differences in opinion on defending strategy were had which was good to see people talking through and trying to rectify some of our weak areas from the half. The team was pulling together. Guy had run himself into the ground and was replaced by Kaydash on the left.

n

Second half and it was all the Hibs - Glenn was replaced early in the half by Ryan as he had an important appointment with a Netball team and some massage oils... The rest of the lads concentrated on the football and 15 mins in Andrew managed to use the last of his energy to break free one-on-one and slot home to make it 3-1 and give the Hibs a cushion before crawling off to be replaced by Clarky.

n

The midfield worked hard and were moving the ball around well and the hibs created a few more chances for the strikers which didn't get converted but it was good that the chances were coming and people were making the right runs into the right areas. Whibley came on to replace Dean and ensure the defense had some fresh legs on - cheers for helping out at the last minute with El Presidente having to withdraw. Then with 10 mins to go Kaydash created some space in the box for himself and managed to finish with a great strike to make it 4-1 and send the Hibs home happy.

n

MOM had a few contenders this week - all the midfield lads did fantastically well but it goes to a defender Mike Roberts for keeping their main attacking threat quiet in the second half and the vocal levels up throughout the match.

n

A good game played in the right spirit so thanks to Rangers for that and the referees who had a quiet afternoon.

n

Hibs have got to take this result and try and turn it into a good run to the end of the season.
