Tough battle to earn a win for Latini
A good and fairly solid performance from the Latini squad, against a very competitive Rangers team. We had large chunks of possession and were passing the ball very well at times but Rangers were never really out of the game and we had to work extremely hard for this win.

We started the game fairly slow, struggling to get our passing game together, poor first touches, limited movement from midfield and attack in the first 10min. Luckily our defenders were in good form today and we didn’t have to many problems at the back. After 10-15min we started playing better mainly because midfield and attack were moving more and providing more options going forward. The goal came from a beautiful move. We won the ball near the halfway line and a few short passes followed by a ball down the right channel for Daniele who delivered inch perfect cross for Gob to glance a header into the back of the net 1-0 for Latini.
For the remainder of the half we continued look dangerous when going forward and to be honest Angel should made it 2-0. A great a cross behind the Rangers defence with the goalie off his line, all Angel had to was slot it into an empty net 4 yards out but he seemed surprised that he wasn’t offside and his first touch let the ball run out for a goalkick.
In addition to that there were some very bad offside calls including one where Benji clearly came from onside which would have seen him 1-1 with the Rangers goalie, one of the worst offside calls I have seen, it wasn’t even close.
However, Rangers looked dangerous on the counter attacks and we nearly conceded on the stroke of half time from a well worked Rangers counter attack that could only be stopped by a good save from Cuong. We went into the half one to the good.
Second half we knew we needed at least another goal to make to ensure this win. We started well and once again created good chances going forward none better than a ball from Angel over the Rangers defender but Daniele struggled to bring the ball under control for what would have been an easy shot from 10 yards out. On the opposite end Darren played a bouncing ball back to Cuong and he mis-kicked the ball straight into the path of the oncoming striker who slotted it in to make it 1-1..game on.
For a short while it looked like Latini might struggle to get back on top – too much complaining, shouting but after a few minutes and a few smart substitutions by Fafa, Latini slowly got their domination back. Olivier Michel made sure to get Latini noses back in front and finished off a nice attack with a header over the Rangers goalie 2-1 Latini.
We continued to create chances going forward. Eventually I managed to get a second chance after failing to pull the trigger from 4 yards out and curled a shot with the outside of foot over the Rangers goalie to give Latini some breathing space with a 2 goal cushion 3-1 Latini.
Rangers refused to give up got a freekick on the edge of the box that could only be denied by the another fine save from Cuong. In the end Latini saw out the game.
Overall a very good and competitive performance from the Latini squad. We played strong defensively and overall managed to contain the Rangers attack for most parts of the game. Only complaint is that we really should have killed the game off earlier. Man of the match, tough call everyone worked extremely hard and gave 100% but for me there were limited outstanding performances our defenders deserve a lot of credit Darren as usual marshalling the back line very well, we welcome Nico to the back, he had a good game when he came on. However this week my man of the match will go to Cuong. Even though he made 1 mistake that led to us being on level terms for 10minutes, he made some superb saves at important stages of the game. One of the reasons we find ourselves in the top 3 is the fact that we have a commanding a fairly solid goalkeeper at the back this season. In previous years we had big problems in this position and Cuong deserves a lot of credit for a number of results we got.
The result was the perfect way to prepare for our annual teambuilding trip to the BKK GAS tournament.
We hope Fafa recovers in time to play this weekend as he took a bad hit to his left ankle, hopefully it looked worse than it was.
Thanks to Rangers for a very competitive but overall fair game.
Referee had an ok game but unfortunately 1 of the linesmen had a bad game.
