Hard fought point in sweltering heat against a strong Brewerks side

Line Up: Joe-Rob(benoit)-Gaetan-Chris-Jeje(Seb)-Fafa (Mateo)-Luke-Nico (Olivier Lacour)-Benji-Olivier Magaud-Olivier Michel-Daniele

It was a hot day for a 3pm kickoff at Sports School on a sizzling astro-turf pitch. Players were pouring water on their shoes out of fear that the studs & rubber soles might get stuck to the artifical turf :) it felt like you could bbq a steak on that lovely artificial ground...We all knew it was going to be a tough game against what looks like one of the best Brewerks squads in a while...actually the same can be said about Latini for this game with extremely strong players starting on the bench...

We came off the blocks running & for the 1st twenty minutes dominated the game with nice passing through midfield, winning our challenges and seemingly being that important 1 or 2 steps ahead of our opponents. We managed to create a few good chances & our usual killer Olivier Magaud managed to convert for 1:0 Latini lead. We stayed on top for another 5-10 minutes & had chances to extend our lead - unfortunately to no avail...a little more composure & a bit more luck and we may have been up by 2 ...

After 20-25 minutes Brewerks started waking up and were playing and moving the ball around very well. They were exerting their pressure and started to dominate the midfield and we were pushed back to our half and last third. But our defence played extremely well and clear Brewerks chances were very limited.

Half time 1:0 up and feeling confident...a 1st half clean sheet - our 1st one of the season!

2nd half started the way the 1st finished, Brewerks controlling midfield and slowly starting to gain more momentum. They were able to move the ball well through midfield but our defence stood fairly solid and clean Brewerks chances were still a rare sight. In the end good pressure from Brewerks forced a Latini defensive error -  a  soft pass across our own 6 yard box...which allowed Brewerks back into the game - 1:1.

This is where the new and improved character from Latini came out and rather than laying down we remained focused, calm and started to exert pressure to regain our lead. Throughout the game we always looked dangerous with quick passing through midfield. So it was too no surprise we managed to find a way back and our Italian on-loan striker Daniele managed to get us back infront 2:1. Unfortunately once again some sloppy defending both from Latini midfield and our defence allowed Brewerks to win a 50/50 challenge in our own box and slot in the 2:2. In the end the Brewerks goalie former Latini player JB, made 2 or 3 exceptional saves to keep them in the game.

Overall 2:2 seems a fair result both teams controlled the game at different stages. Latinin warriors can be proud of a solid game - working very hard, never giving up, good team spirit, winning the challenges, always looking dangerous and probably over the course of 90minutes with more chances and better chances to win the game - well done lads.

A big thanks has to go to Player/Manager Fafa for good game plan, team selection & some inspired substitutions - Daniele (scored the 2:1), Lacour played extremely well to minimise the Brewerks attacking midfield, Seb (debutant), Mateo and Benoit did well when they came on...thanks Fafa.

Man of the match has a few contenders - Benji had a great game covering an amazing amount of distance, Christer had a solid game at the back for 70minutes, Magaud worked tirelessly (even saw him in our own penalty box) but MOM goes to Gaetan for great defensive work.

Thanks to Brewerks for a hard fought & at times very physical game but overall played in the right spirit.

Referee & team - good game
