Finally a good performance just unlucky on the day
All-in-all a very good Latini performance, great teamwork, at times some very good football and in all fairness we should have won this game. On another day probably would have scored an easy 4 or 5 goals (and still missed a few more). We had majority of the posession and at times dominated the play, however Brewerks always looked dangerous and seemed ready to pounce when we made mistakes and that is how it turned out in the end.
First half - generally controlled well by Latini, some very nice moves and attacks down the wings and through the centre, creating a handful of good chances, with more composure surely we would have been ahead by at least 2 or 3 goals. In general we managed to contain Brewerks and we dealt fairly comfortably with their long balls up to the strikers, however Brewerks did look dangerous when they managed to win the ball early in midfield and create quick counters. Nonetheless half time 0-0.
2nd half, we started a little sluggish but eventually got back into our stride and finally our top striker managed to score after we kicked a long ball forward and Olive managed to hold of the defender long enough and slot the ball past the Brewerks goalie; 1-0 Latini. Everything looked good, we defended pretty well until now and looked dangerous going forward. However, we gifted Brewerks an easy way back into the game as we played the ball out wide to our right back - Nico from a goal kick, unfortunately he was put under pressure and his pass back was too soft and allowed the Brewerks striker to pick up the ball and a simple pass to the striker 11 yards out from goal, as he passed the ball passed our goalie into the back of the net 1-1.
For the next 15 minutes Latini would dominate the game and would have enough chances to put this game to rest but unfortunately we lacked the composure to put the ball into the back of the net - two of the best chances falling to Rhodders. The first came after he had done all the hard work, making the run going past the keeper and only have to slot the ball into an open net frm 10 yards out, unfortunately he missed the goal completely. The second chance again after making a great run this time down the left flank and beating 1 or 2 defenders but with a very tight angle he decided to shoot and miss rather than square the ball to an open player.
On the other side a long throw for Brewerks and the striker went past 2 players and scored from a tight angle to make it 2-1 Brewerks, the remaining 10minutes saw a very open game as we pushed for an equaliser and Brewerks tried to get a third to secure the game. There were a number of chances on both ends but poor finishing and good goalkeeping on both sides kept the final scoreline at 2-1 for Brewerks.
In the end a very solid performance by Latini that on any other day would have seen us go home victorious, the positives from this is that we played good football, worked as a team and had fun on the pitch. The result will come for that i am sure. As expected a very competitive battle against Brewerks some hard challenges but overall a very fair game - thanks to Brewerks. Although we wish them well for the remainder we surely hope that they will drop points against Hibs or GAS to enable us to finish 3rd :)).
Man of the match - the entire team, finally after a playing a few poor games - we worked hard for one another which resulted in playing some good football and that is how it should be each and every week - the rest and the results will follow 100% guaranteed.
Thanks to the referee who had a very good game, with the exception of a clear handball and penalty not given but everyone makes mistakes and we cannot complain as we had enough chances to secure the game.
Forza e onore sempre!!!
