3 points & no injuries
The above header indicates the positive things, as we played against rock-bottom Gaulois this Saturday afternoon at Jap ass. This was indeed a must win match, but we were again missing several players due to injury.

We managed to field a decent line-up and we dominated the match from the start, but definitely without impressing our supporters on the sideline. We created the better chances, but our finishing was poor and we seldom tested the French custodian. Our entire team lacked desire to win and the lack of fighting spirit was punished 5 minutes before the break, as a French player found himself unmarked inside the box following a corner. Brilliant finish and poor marking, which really summed up our disappointing first half.

We certainly had to do better in the second half. Casper was brought on and his desire and work rate improved our game and most players had a decent second half. We deservedly got our equalizer after 10 min. Tommie received the ball on the right and quickly passed the defender. Kenny made a good run inside the box and made no mistake when the low cross came in. 1-1 and Vikings was almost awake.

The following minutes we created decent chances and looked very likely to score. The decisive goal looked quite similar to the equalizer, as Tommie beat his man on the right and found on-rushing Daniel totally unmarked at the back post. Daniel connected well with the ball and it was indeed a good goal. The match was now over, as the French didn’t create anything in the 2nd half.

We continued to search for the 3-1 goal and shots from Peter DT & Cala could easily have found the back of the net. We eventually got our goal from a deflected Tommie free-kick. Gaulois pulled one back 2 minutes from time, as 7 Vikings just watched a French striker dribble inside the box, before he finally scored easily. Embarrassing marking, but the match was in reality already over.

3 points in the bag, but the entire Vikings squad look very tired. We are certainly awaiting the summer break, which should see many players recovering from their injuries.

Thank to Gaulois for a fair match. The Men in Black also had a decent match and generally managed to let the game flow.
