Casuals stretch winning sequence to two games, equaling best run since October
Hotspurs fans, heard chanting "Can we play you every month?" after their cup victory in February, must have been delighted to discover the truth of their rhetoric when, on Saturday, they found themselves playing the Casuals for a fourth time since December.

One draw, one loss, and a postponement due to a waterlogged pitch, Casuals needed a victory to complete the set.  However, they started slowly on a slick surface at ITE Tampines and found themselves one down after 20 minutes when one of a number of good crosses from Hotspurs' right was converted at close range.

With most Casuals' attacks breaking down in the last third - due to a poor choice of final ball or an attempt to be a bit too clever - the equaliser that came shortly before half time was only the third effort the reds had managed on target.  Receiving the ball near the byline, Tom was given time to turn, evade two challenges and finish powerfully at the near post.

Fortunately the goal shook Casuals out of their reverie and, with a higher tempo and more passes beginning to find their intended targets, the reds scored their second at the beginning of the second half.  After a period of pressure, a penalty given for a trip in the box was dispatched by Tom to make it 2-1.

Hotspurs were now pushing further forward and creating half chances (worth a mention is a cheeky dinked effort which narrowly eluded both Marc and the Casuals goal), with Casuals doing the same at the other end.  Amongst other less clear opportunities, Paul tried a lob that he will have been disappointed with and Tom had a poorly struck effort cleared off the line.  Eventually though, it was Hotspurs who scored the game's fourth with a well taken free kick; one of many given away around the Casuals penalty area.

With the score at two-all and both sides believing they could go on and win it, the result was some good end-to-end football, most of it played on the ground.  However, with ten minutes to go Lee spotted a run from Neil (bent to perfection in the eyes of Neil and the referee's assistant) and knocked a ball over the top for him to run on to, cut across the retreating centre back and fire into the roof of the net, more than making up for his fluffed effort in the first half.

Casuals were then left to see out the remainder of the game relatively comfortably, one superb save from Marc at the feet of Esad excepted.
