Swiss continue good form
Although our Coach wanted us to start alert and not concede any (early) goals - we failed to deliver on that miserably...

The game also saw the debuts of Philippe Preite and Steve Rutter - thanks guys and we are looking forward to have you on our team in future. Both played very well and fitted into our team without any problems.

It took the Dutch roughly 2 minutes to get onto the score sheet - thanks to some sluggish play from the whole Swiss team. We couldn't hold on to a single ball in the middle of the park in the first few minutes and were punished for that - 0:1 after 2 minutes...

However, we got back into our game after that wake up call pretty fast and only a few minutes later Chris Schulthess converted a neat pass from Michel for the equalizer. What followed afterwards was complete dominance from the Swiss team with a lot of nice and crisp passing game throughout the rest of the first half. Only missing part was the scoring - we were not able to find the net on various occasions and once we found it - the Linesmen saw an offside position which only he was able to see... 1:1 at half time. Also the Dutch keeper had a very good first half - holding on for the Dutch with some good saves.

Not much to say for the Coach at half time - if we would continue like this in the second half and put some more confidence and efforts into our game up-front, sure we would win this game against a well-organized Dutch team.

Although the Dutch were able to score 2 late consolidation goals, 2nd half was again in full control from our side. We continued to use the whole width of the pitch and created many clear-cut chances. But this time we were able to convert at least 6 of them into goals. First it was Chris Buchmann who somehow slotted the ball in the far corner from 16m after he basically already lost the ball. Must be thanks to the yellow boots...

Next on the score sheet was Thomas Kaegi - I guess it was his first touch on the ball and he put it nicely into the top corner of the Dutch goal from 5m. Norman Buerzle and Heinz Steinegger scored one a piece again thanks to some nice passing through the middle of the pitch. Chris Schulthess then scored his second of the game thanks to a nice volley from an accurate cross from Heinz Steinegger. The final goal came from Yours truly who scored the 7th goal for the Swiss with a long distance shot after a nice one-two with Nikos Tsalkidis.

All in all a commanding performance for the Swiss - with the usual problems in converting our chances, at least in the first half.

Thanks to the Dutch for a good and fair game. Very good and committed first half - once the gates opened and some changes needed to be done - Swiss were able to stamp their dominance onto the game.

Now we are looking forward to our last game against the Hotspurs - usually quite tough games, with a lot of intensity and quite high scoring!
