31^st minute: Our left-back clears the ball on the goal line from a corner. He sets up a counterattack, crossing more than half the pitch with the ball glued to his feet and delivers a â??Muehren 1988' to our right-winger, who brilliantly lays the ball off to our left-midfielder to volley in from an extremely tight angle; 2-0.

This all happened dead-on 16 hours earlier, when that other Oranje showed the world how football is meant to be played. At German intercession our final cosmoleague match was set on â??the day after'. As the entire team had watched the game deep into the wee wee hours of the night before and considering the fact that we had to win by a goal difference of 35 to leave behind the table's bottom (aka the place where the sun doesn't shine), we all knew that we wouldn't have anything to loose. So we didn't...

After our team was complete 30 minutes late we were ready for kick-off on the pitch of the American Navy in the far north of our beautiful island. Needless to say there was enough water on the field to host several warships at the same time. Our tactical system was the so-called Harmonica, which often has been applied quite successfully in water polo. It worked: halftime Zje Germans 3 - HFC 0.

Though we had some good chances in the first half we weren't able to make the final shot into the German goal, but these chances encouraged us enough to change our tactics to the more risky 4-4-2 and thus putting some extra pressure on the German midfield. However, soon after the whistle for the 2^nd half kick-off had blown we found ourselves under a lot of pressure from Zje Germans instead of the other way around as it was thought-out. As most of us lacked sleep (read: basic condition) we were unable to turn the game into our favor. Zje Germans succeeded in adding another four goals. Hence: fulltime Zje Germans 7 - HFC 0.

Edwin, a warmer welcome into the Cosmoleague as a goalkeeper is unimaginable, but keep up the good spirit for next season. For the others, take a well deserved rest and see y'all end of July for a couple of behind-the-garbage-truck sessions - uncle (rem-)Co will be our drill-instructor. Let's aim for the left rowtje next season...
