A fantastic game of football on one of the hottest 5pm kickoffs. A great spectacle to watch with some good football from both sides. A big mention to the Latini boys who defended extremely well and were still able to look dangerous going forward – playing with heart and desire, fighting for each other, extremely happy to be a part of this team….a shame we didn’t manage to get a point or more.

n

We adapted our formation to try to deal with SCC’s attacking play. Overall it worked extremely in particular in the first half as we managed to contain the SCC attacks. With Daniele and Olive upfront we always looked dangerous and both of them caused the SCC defence problems when they had a chance to run at them. Finally a nice pass from Daniele set up a Magaud goal to put us in the driving seat. After that a long ball from Fafa behind the SCC defence, combined with Adrien’s determined run, which meant he reached the ball before the SCC keeper, made it 2-0 Latini…only 2minutes to go. Unfortunately we went asleep and allowed a freekick from 40 yards to cause havock in our box with the SCC player taking the advantage and slotting it in to make it 2-1 at half time.

n

After the half SCC piled on the pressure and pushed us deep into our own half. SCC were starting to move the ball better and our old friend Mehdi started to get into his stride and causing us some problems. Nonetheless we were able to keep our head above water with a little luck and hard work but eventually a fantastic volley from 20 yards into the bottom Latini corner meant 2-2.

n

The game opened up a little more with both sides pushing forward for a winner. We once again managed to put our nose in front with a nice goal from Daniele..with about 10-15min left. However, once again we struggled to deal with crosses and freekicks and allowed a free header in the box to make it 3-3. SCC continued to push forward and for the first time in the game managed to get the lead 4-3…it proved decisive.

n

A fantastic game of football and that confirmed that we can compete with the top teams…it’s the fine details that make the difference and that we need to improve on combined with a little luck.

n

Everyone in the Latini shirt played well and no poor performances throughout the team…great team spirit, a real joy to play in this team. Our defence managed to contain SCC for large parts of the game but MOM will go to Daniele for a tireless performance upfront, chasing dead balls, winning his challenges, setting up 1 goal and scoring another.

n

If we continue in this fashion we will cause the Casuals a few problems next week…
