You know it's not your day when....
 -10 players are missing
-2 players drop out on match day
-you score an own goal after 2 minutes
-you miss a penalty after 5 minutes....and the first song you hear on the radio after the game is ABBA's "Waterloo".....

A very good BCL game at SJI, which was in excellent condition once again. The Swiss had to dig deep as almost an entire team was missing for a number of reasons. Matters did not improve when Hakim put a harmless cross past Ridwan in goal afte two minutes. It looked like the Swiss could get back on level terms after 5 minutes, but Thomas Franz's penalty went about 1/2 inch wide. The Swiss team of 2009/2010 has showed on more than one occasion that we can come back from a goal or two down. And it was all Swiss in the first half. Ridwan in goal did not have to make a single save, that says it all. But despite being in control of the game the Swiss went into the break trailing Vikings 0:1.

The second half was more of the same: the Swiss creating all the chances. Heinz Steinegger and Thomas Franz would each have scored a hattrick on any other day. But whatever came onto the Vikings goal was saved by a superb goalkeeper. When the Swiss finally had the ball in the back of the net it was ruled out for an offside position. This was a perfectly good goal and the linesman had to admit it after the game, but it somehow summed up the luck the Swiss enjoyed on this day. If lady luck is a banker, our credit balance is increasing every week!

When Thomas Kaegi was brought down in the box the Swiss got a second penalty. This time Martin Stacher showed no mercy and equalized. That was the very least we deserved. The Swiss were now looking for full points, but on a rare counter attck the Vikings somehow scrambled the ball over the line. One chance - two goals; that was the Vikings's clinical efficiency today.

The Swiss were very disappointed to walk away empty handed. However, we can be proud of the reaction the team showed after the early misery. We have a large squad now and we expect all key players to be back and fit again for the next few games.

It was a very competitive game and as always between Vikings and Swiss it was exceptionally fair. No bad tackles or foul language. Good luck Vikings for the next games.
