Saturday’s end of season encounter with Brewerkz felt very much like the last day at school before the summer break, with much of the intensity that was part of the two previous matches with Brewerkz this season missing, although much of the niggling ‘afters’ stuff remained from certain quarters.
nHibs squad had many people missing but we were able to call upon some class replacements to help plug the gaps. Dan Martin made a decent debut on left midfield and Johan Gouttefangeas was sitting in the middle of the park and provided some
Brewerkz and Hibs both had several half chances each before Brewerkz capitalized twice by carving through the Hibs back-line with great defense splitting balls. 2-0 to Brewerkz.
nThen came a mini-revival with Hibs managing to retain possession and
Second half and the Hibs pushed for the equalizer and committed men forward in search of that elusive second goal. Inevitably, gaps were left at the back and Hibs were very lucky to not concede further when an open goal was somehow missed with a lovely ‘air’ shot and then the woodwork came to our rescue.
nThe Hibs were a tad disappointed not to get something from the game but then again the score line could well have been greater than the two goals conceded so we can’t complain. Well done to Brewerkz for their win and good work from the referee’s who showed great restraint and leniency for most of the game (well, until the last 5 mins anyway!).
