Seven Goal Zed-Fest
The first 25 minutes of this game were a particularly unpleasant sight for Casuals fans.  On too many occasions the reds were caught ball watching, diving in, taking extra touches and generally not doing the simple thing.  When the French scored after a period of pressure, it was not the first clear opportunity they had created and Casuals did not deserve to be on equal terms.  The fact that Tom had intercepted a cross-field ball to score an early goal was apt as there was little chance that one of his own team mates would have been able to find him with a pass.

Fortunately, Casuals started playing after the French equaliser and whilst the remainder of the half saw three more Casuals goals, the fare was only marginally more bearable than the early stages.  When the reds managed to get the ball down and play on the ground, goals were scored: Mal twice feeding Tom who beat a defender before firing low past the keeper on both occasions.  These efforts sandwiched a great team goal, culminating in a perfect low cross from Greg that was well finished by Gordon.

Changes were made early in the second half with both strikers being replaced.  Marc S showed some good touches and willing running but it was Neil who completed the Casuals scoring with a good finish from outside the box.  That moment aside, the second half proved to be wholly unmemorable except for a late consolation scored by the French.

Man of the match goes to Doug who, once he realised there was a game of football being played, was less bad than everyone else.

Whilst the Casuals were not at their best, credit must go to the French who defied their league position with a good performance.
