Team Casuals

5 Star Reds

After a wet week, the sun came out on Sat for the game against Nippon.. The rain in the week has clearly benefited the UWC surface which having also been cut was in perfect condition.

Casuals again missing a couple of regulors and boasting Bushy in goal, came out of the blocks with gusto. The defensive 4 with Fraser in particular in no mood to miss a tackle and Jamie and Mal in the centre providing a firm foundation for attack. Within 10 mins and the Casuals looking bright a fine move involving birthday boy Paul and Supa found Mooney who volley home from 20 yards.. On 25 a good near post cross from Doug was converted by Mooney and the Casuals were 2 up, within 5 minues it was 3 with Mad Tony (Dave) making a fine overlapping run and selflessly squaring to Mooney for the third. 5 mins before half time Mooney fed Jamie for 4-0.

Half time and the Casuals were happy although Ollie rightly informed everyone that the game was not won..

Second half and the Casuals although in the ascendency dropped their tempo a little - Mooney made it 5 half way through the half from a Doug cross and although at times looked dangerous the Reds did not trouble the scorers again. Late on, Pollard having done well upfront headed goalwards and the Japanese keeper made a Gordon Banks'esque save, impressive indeed..

A comfortable win and solid performance for the Reds who look forward to the Cup next week.
